Privacy Policy
Effective date: October 1, 2026
STOP (Stop The O'Hare Passthrough) is a community coalition of residents working to inform the public about the proposed O'Hare Flyer/Great Western Railroad project. This policy explains what information we collect through stoptheohareflyer.org, how we use it, and the choices you have.
What we collect
Information you give us. When you sign up for email updates, add your name, volunteer, or contact us, we collect what you enter, such as your name, email address, phone number, the community you live in, and any message or comments you include.
Information collected automatically. Like most websites, our site host (Squarespace) collects basic technical information when you visit, such as your browser type, device, approximate location based on your IP address, and the pages you view. This is used for site performance and visitor statistics. Squarespace uses cookies to do this. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, and the site will still work.
How we use it
We use your information to:
- send you updates about the campaign, if you signed up for them
- coordinate volunteers
- respond to your messages
- understand which communities our supporters come from, so we can organize effectively
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We do not share it with the project's sponsors, the railroads, or any commercial party.
Who else handles your information
We use a few trusted services to run the site and our communications:
- Squarespace hosts this website.
- Google (Google Forms and Google Workspace) stores sign-up and volunteer form responses and handles our email.
- Mailchimp sends our email updates.
These services process information on our behalf under their own privacy policies. If you sign our petition on Change.org, that information is collected by Change.org under its privacy policy, not ours.
If you volunteer and join a coalition group chat or workspace, other members of that group will be able to see your name and contact details.
We may disclose information if required by law.
Your choices
You can unsubscribe from our emails at any time by using the unsubscribe link at the bottom of any email. You can also ask us to update or delete your information by emailing info@stoptheohareflyer.org. We will respond within a reasonable time.
Children
This site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will post the updated version on this page with a new effective date.
